Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Unlock methods and user capacity: For an office, prioritize models with multiple unlock options (fingerprint, code, app, keys) and a capacity that fits your team size and guest visits.
- Recognition speed and accuracy: Look for sub-second or around 0.5–1.5 second recognition to minimize entry delays during busy hours.
- Privacy and data handling: Prefer locks that store biometric data locally or offer appliances that do not rely on cloud storage for sensitive information.
- Smart app features: Apps that manage access logs, set temporary codes, and configure modes (silent, passage) can improve security and convenience in an office setting.
- Integration with other systems: Some models work with voice assistants or gateway modules for remote management; assess whether these integrations align with your IT policies.
- Battery and power options: Check battery life, low-battery alerts, and emergency charging options to ensure doors stay functional during outages.
- Installation compatibility: Ensure the lock fits standard US doors and matches your door thickness and hardware. Reversibility and ease of installation are also practical considerations.
- Security features: Features such as anti-tamper alarms, auto-lock after entry, and anti-peep keypads add layers of defense suitable for office environments.
